September 27th Wrap-Up

Tuesday's stream was short affair due to my illness, but I think it was to the show's advantage. The four fights were all above AI match standards, and another match of the year candidate may have been born. Let's go piece by piece and break down what happened.

First up was Jacob Drummond and Trevor Warren fighting for that last guaranteed spot at September 29th's main event elimination chamber match. Although people were expecting Jacob to win, the ending of the match was one of the highlights of the month. After Thomas bent over to look down at a beaten up Jacob, he talked some shit and then proceeded to climb to the top rope for an elbow drop. Jacob then uppercut The Beast out of the goddamn air. Talk shit, get hit. 1-2-3. This means if Trevor wants to get into tonight's main event, he's going to have to defeat Geoffrey "TG" McCullough. TG lost his qualifying match to Ken Nakano a couple of streams ago, and it was probably the strongest we've seem him yet. I don't see TG winning, though.

Next up was Jake Rapture fighting Maximilian Wolf. Winner of this match would go on to fight Tyler T-Man in a #1 contender's match for the US Championship of America. This was another excellent match with the momentum swinging back and forth quite rapidly, but in the end it was Maximilian who grabbed Rapture out of the air into a Maximum Impact for the win. After Maximilian was not able to beat Laine Whitaker for a rematch contract last week, he's been bound and determined to make his way back up and win his opportunity to beat the ever-loving shit out of Thomas Warren. If we wants that title back, he's going to have to get though his last obstacle: Tyler T-Man.

The Provincial Alliance fought against The Hardcore Union for the #2 spot in the Doubles rankings. Probably the weakest match of the night, but it was still a good tag match. It does not help how we've been numbed to how good Doubles matches have been recently, but the most important thing to note about this match is that the Union went over clean. That's very uncharacteristic of them.

The final match was between John Polak and Johnny Talladega for the Canadian title. This match was almost on par with Maximilian Wolf vs Thomas Warren earlier this month. There was also some storytelling in the match! I didn't even know the AI could pull that off.

To explain the lead up to this match, Jacob Drummond (John's tag team partner) has been worried about Polak's performance in the ring as of late, following his mediocre performance at the September 10th tournament. Jacob then threatened that if John does not shape up and win the Canadian title he was in the race for, he'd end the partnership of one of the most iconic tag-teams in the FLPW. Things got even more serious after Jacob and John lost their titles to V-Nation after John was hit by an assisted Koog Boot. On top of that, most people picked Talladega to retain the title. You could see how much John wanted to not lose this title match. Nothing could pin him, he never gave up, and he fought like a champion. It ended after John hit his wrist-lock hurricanrana for the win after over 25 minutes of fighting. It was a great match.

Tonight is going to be a little insane. Every single match on the card is a #1 contender's match, which means that next Monday every title in the FLPW will be on the line. Watch tonight at 9:00pmEST to witness the first ever FLPW elimination chamber match, and to see who's fighting who for what!

Blogspot Exclusive: Double J vs V-Nation Doubles Title Ramatch

After losing their Doubles titles last Friday, Double J, though their rematch clause, was granted the opportunity for a championship rematch. They could not fight for the titles at last Tuesday's event since John and Jacob were tied up in singles matches, so a special match was granted to be exclusively aired on this blog page.

Card Changed For September 27th Stream

I'm sick, and it sucks. I had to postpone last night's stream to today hoping I'd feel better, and if anything I'm getting worse. However, the show much go on!

I'll be starting the stream much earlier (at 7:30pmEST) with the pre-show. Also, only the "mandatory" matches are happening tonight, and the only rankings matches that culminate at Friday's stream will happen. Here's the "watered down" fight card:

The Provincial Alliance VS The Hardcore Union
For the #2 spot in the Doubles division rankings.
-
Singles Match

Singles Match
Trevor Warren VS Jacob Drummond
Winner is inserted into September 30th's Elimination Chamber main event.

5 People I Think Can Dethrone Chris Furious

Chris Furious has been the only one so far to hold the World's Bestest Champion of the World title belt on stream. He's defended his gold 4 times in the last two months against 3 different people, and all of them have come up short. However, I don't think Chris will be the champion forever, and here's my list of 5 people in the FLPW that could potentially steal the title belt off of Chris in the near future.

5. Marcus Gravy
Now before you think I'm absolutely crazy for picking someone who allegedly was the reason that him and Trent didn't pull though and win the Doubles titles, I want to point out that he is the only one in the non-cannon round robin so far to actually defeat Chris Furious. Granted, Chris does seem to go easy mode when it comes to non-title matches, and Marcus has not had the best of luck when it comes to streamed matches, but just wait until the Brown Giant gains momentum. Mark my words.

4. Velze Formadill
Velze only just debuted, but it looks like he's on the same trajectory as Joshua Ferguson was when he debuted. Not only did he look incredibly strong with his tag-team partner Adam Roggeveen against the Hardcore Union, he also picked up a (literally) big win over Eddie Chumbo to qualify himself for Friday's elimination chamber #1 contender's match. Combine that with his impressive standings in the current non-cannon round robin, and Velze might have what it takes to evade the Kicks of Fury and defeat Chris for his belt.

3. Ken Nakano
Ken is one of four people to ever hold the WBCotW belt. He was the one who ended Chris' first reign by cashing in on Furious with his Dollars in the Account attache case after he successfully defended his title against Mitchell Cooper. Granted, that's not a champions way of winning the title, but he then went on to defend his title against Chris, Mitchell Cooper, and Jacob Drummond successfully until dropping it to Chris after four months. Ken's performance, much like Gravy's, have been lackluster over two months of streams, but he still (literally) has the pedigree to post a threat to Chris' third reign.

2. Pubert Adams
Chris is a 3-time World's Bestest Champion of the World. Chris' second reign was ended by none other than Executioner member Pubert Adams, who is a 2-time world champion himself. He's been mostly focusing on the Doubles title recently, but after putting away Salty Marcellus in his qualification match for Friday's elimination chamber match, he's proved why he deserves to be an FLPW main eventer.

1. Mitchell Cooper
Nobody has fought Chris Furious in title matches more than 3-time world champion Sergeant Mitchell Cooper, whether that be a title defense, or trying to get his belt back. Arguably the face of the FLPW main event scene, he was the first ever FLPW world champion. He successfully defended his belt against Chris on multiple occasions, but an important tidbit of information is that he has never been able to take the belt off of Chris. Two of Mitchell's reigns where ended by Furious, and it's only a matter of time until the curse of not being able to take the belt off of Chris is broken. Mitchell has been absent recently from streams, but when he returns we'll hopefully see him start his fourth world title reign.

September 23rd Wrap-Up

Two streams in a row where I felt like I was ending the stream on a high note. Last Monday was the Maximilian Wolf vs Thomas Warren vacant US title match (once again, go watch it right now, it's worth it). Last Friday had the main event Doubles title match between Double J and V-Nation. Let's review what happened throughout the night, however.

The stream started out with current Canadian champion Johnny Talladega in a match to keep him warmed up for his upcoming match Monday night. His mystery opponent turned out to be none other than special guest XCOM soldier Chibudem "Chibs" Fofana. Johnny Talladega gets a quick pin after everyone has fun with the cameo. Fun way to kick off the night.

Next up, The Provincial Alliance has finally won a Doubles division rankings match! Their last rankings match was against V-Nation a couple of streams ago (and they made it all the way to the main event against Double J for the title, but more on that later). They picked up the win against their long time rivals, the Bulletproof P.M.C. After TG lost a Worlds division rankings match against Ken last Monday, and with the rivalry between Dominic and Sergei never ending, it was an okay match with a surprise ending.

Tyler T-Man faced Trent "T The MC" McRae in the next match to see who would move on in the US rankings. Not a very memorable match, but T-Man did an excellent job reversing signature after finisher, and managed to kick out both Trent's signature superkick that was followed by the Final Measure. T-Man then hit the No More Tears for the win.

The next match was the first Worlds rankings match of the night between Velze Formadill and Eddie Chumbo. There was a tonne of heat riding into this encounter after Eddie cheated to pin Velze in a Doubles rankings match last Monday. Not only was this match a chance for Formadill to get even, it was also Formadill's first chance to get into the race for the World title. The most important bit of info is that Chumbo was never able to get the Chum-bomb off. He did kick out of an early-match Forma-killer, but he was eventually put down after a long match with a picturesque bridging German suplex. I'm actually excited to see where Formadill will end up in the Worlds division. Maybe he'll be the one to end Chris' reign.

Pubert Adams versus Salty Marcellus was sadly the most boring match of the night. No memorable spots, but Pubert did pick up the win. It seems that Salty is in over his head in his early stint in the Worlds division after leaving the US division without a champion, but when asked he says he'd like it no other way. Good for him, I guess. But since Salty's streak was ended by Jacob Dummond, it's hard to gauge Salty's momentum following yet another loss.

The co-main event ladder match between Maximilian Wolf and Laine Whitaker was a disaster. If Maximilian grabbed the briefcase, he'd gain a contract for a US title rematch against Thomas Warren. The AI does not seem to be able to do ladder matches that well, and ever though there were some fun spots, the whole thing went to an anticlimax as Max failed to stop Laine from climbing the ladder and nabbing the briefcase. If Max wants another title shot, he'll have to go through rankings matches. He has one scheduled tonight against an unannounced opponent, and if he wins that match he'll have to go though Tyler T-Man if he wants a title shot.

Finally, the main event - V-Nation faces Double J for the Doubles titles. Usually V-Nation consists of Jake Rapture and Tom Mann with El Koogs at ringside, however Mann was subbed in with Koogs before the match in order to add some raw power to combat Jacob Drummond. I'd comfortably say that it was the best streamed tag-team match yet. Momentum shifting back and forth, Double J kicking out of everything, and the surprise Assisted Koog Boot tag-finisher coming out of nowhere for the win. V-Nation has won their first Doubles titles, becoming the fourth team to ever hold the gold.

The biggest question mark in the air right now is if Jacob and John are going to stick as a team and evoke their rematch clause. If you remember when Double J went to face The Beast Crew, the only reason Jacob is keeping John as his partner is because they won the title for the second time. Since Double J can't immediately have a rematch with John scheduled to fight Talladega for the Canadian title tonight. Jacob has not commented on the situation quite yet.

Stay tuned later today when the fight card for tonight's stream is released!

Why the Canadian Division is the Worst Divsion

Over the past month there's only been two belts worth watching: the Doubles Championship (which since Marcus/Trent dissolved and the rivalry between Double J and The Beast Crew has ended there's not a lot of fire in the division currently), and the National US Championship of America. The World title scene has been alright barring Chris' championship run, but one division that seems to be absolutely devoid of excitement has been the Canadian division.

Johnny Talladega, Alan Morrsion, Jordan Wassink, Adam Roggeveen, Dominic Pelletier, Roger Olson, John Polak, and the newly debuted Sammy Zaslanslamar make up the bulk of the championship pool. Although we have see plenty of Talladega and Wassink tossing the belt back and forth like a game of hot potato, it seems that everyone else has had very little time to shine. The people who have made the division worth watching have left for the world title scene ages ago (such as Chris Furious and Mitchell Cooper, to name two).

The roster is adding people en mass to try and keep up with it's US counterpart, and in doing so it's made the division a pool of people who nobody knows. It's hard to take someone new seriously when their last name is Zaslanslamar, let alone Talladega. Hell, the man who has taken hope the Canadian title more times than anyone else can be summed up as a lanky nerd who relies on his significant other to take home wins. When you put it like that, it's not a great sounding division.

With John Polak fighting for the title against Johnny Talladega this Monday, it's going to take a Maximilian vs Thomas tier match for people to start taking notice to the red belt.

September 18th Wrap-Up

Man, what an amazing Monday that was.

September 16th's stream left something to be desired. Sure, Salty Marcellus' streak was ended by Jacob Drummond, but that accomplishment was then minimized by the fact that Jacob lost in the incredibly mediocre triple threat main event against Joshua Ferguson and Trevor Warren. In fact the whole night was so mediocre that I didn't even write a wrap-up about it.

However, last Monday completely restored my faith that the FLPW can put out amazing matches with amazing endings, and we'll cover what happened as well as the future ramifications.

First match of the night was Sergei fighting Jelrin in a hardcore rankings match. Probably the most boring hardcore division match to date since the only weapon used in the whole match was a ladder. It seems that Sergei is in the race for the hardcore title now, so that's at least something I can maybe look forward to.

The second match was the debut of Velze Formadill, who teamed with Adam Roggeveen to form The Flying Dutchmen. This match was great, and Velze made a great showing with great technical defense and a nice repertoire of high-flying moves. They were up against The Hardcore Union, and it actually got to the point where Eddie Chumbo needed to cheat to pin Velze Formadill. With a 280 pound man using the ropes as pin leverage, I don't see a whole lot of people kicking out of that. It seems that Chumbo and Formadill are going to settle their differences in a singles bout Friday night, and I'm genuinely interested in seeing that match.

Geoffrey "TG" McCullough fought Ken Nakano. TG loses of course, but it was actually close in the first half of the match. Ken kicked out of a TG DDT, but then came back to pedigree for the win. Neat.

John Polak defeated Sammy Zaslanslamar and will go on to fight Johnny Talladega next Monday. John can't go after the belt immediately on Friday since he needs to face V-Nation (spoilers, they won their tag-team match!) for the Doubles Championship on Friday.

Since Johnny is not facing an opponent tomorrow, he's requested a non-title match in order to keep in it, and apparently the FLPW has arranged a special one-time guest to fight him. Nobody knows yet who it is.

After V-Nation won their tag-team match against The Executioners, probably the best match of the year happened. No surprise, it happened during a US title match between Maximilian Wolf and Thomas Warren. I can't think of two other people in the FLPW that consistently put out matches as good as Thomas Warren and Maximilian Wolf. The pair already took home a match of the night at August 15th's stream, and that was only for a rankings spot. This was for the bloody title. I'm pretty sure I've shared the video with the majority of the people who'd read this, but here's a link in case you have not seen it. It's so good.

The sequel to Joshua Ferguson versus Chris Furious was the main event, which Chris won pretty quickly. Joshua Ferguson put up a hell of a fight trying to reverse signatures and finisher, but it only took one Kicks of Fury to knock him out. Because Ferguson lost this match, he cannot have a title shot until Chris' current reign is over, and rumours are that he's going to peruse the Canadian title in the meantime.

That wraps up what happened last Monday. Stay tuned for the official fight card of Friday's stream later today!

Velze Formadill Debuts As Roggeveen's Tag Partner

Nederland native and two-time Lethal League Up-and-Comer Tournament grand finalist Velze Formadill makes his debut at tonight's stream. He'll join forces with Adam Roggeveen to take the tag-team division head on. Formadill brings a technical offensive style to the table to wear down his opponents, mixed with a repertoire of high-flying maneuvers to put people down for the three count.

Velze has said nothing yet about his plans of being a singles competitor.

The man he's teamed with, Adam Roggeveen, is one of the many FLPW wrestlers that have been lost in the shuffle behind the more featured stars. He's been chasing the Canadian championship for a while now without too much success, but it's easy to forget that he's a competent fighter when he's consistently booked against difficult opponents. Maybe his tenure in the Doubles division will allow him to have his time to shine, but with the division as crowded and skilled as it is, there's a lot of work ahead of both him and Velze.

After the remarkable debut of Joshua Ferguson (who is now approaching his second title shot in two weeks!), as well Sammy Zaslanslamar (who potentially might become the number one contender to the Canadian title tonight), here's hoping this is another successful debut.

Fight Card Announced for September 16th Stream

Friday night is looking pretty interesting with the vacant US title and Chris' World title on the line next monay. Every match on the card is nothing but business, as qualifying matches are happening left and right to see who will fight the champion of each division.

The most interesting this is the last four matches on the card building up the hunt for the WBCotW belt. Not only are we going to see Joshua Ferguson after a strong lead up to his title match earlier this week, but we're going to see a true re-match of last Saturday's grand final between Jacob Drummond and Salty Marcellus.

It seems that Salty has been shoved to the bottom of the world title rankings following him vacating the US title, but I don't think that's enough of a roadblock to put in front of the unstoppable tournament winner.

Here are the matches announced for tomorrow's stream:

Triple Threat
??? VS ??? VS ???
Winner will face Chris Furious in a World's Bestest Championship of the World title match.
-
Singles Match
Jacob Drummond VS Salty Marcellus
Winner is inserted into the main event triple threat.
-

Winner is inserted into the main event triple threat.
-

 -

The Provincial Alliance VS V-Nation
Winner will face The Executioners for the number one contender's spot in the Doubles division.
-
Singles Match
John Polak VS Jordan Wassink
Winner is placed into the number one contender's match for the International Canadian Championship of the World.

September 12th Wrap-Up

Well, we have new Doubles champions at any rate.

Last Monday's streaming left a lot to be desired in terms of match quality. Maximilian won because the ref did not see Saxxymus' rope break (a spot that's REALLY getting old at this point), Chris defended his world title quickly by ending the match with a hurricanrana of all moves, and Jacob eliminated both Trevor and T-Man to become Doubles champions with John Polak.

Still going on is the quest to see who will fight Double J for their belts next. The Executioners pulled off a win again the Bulletproof P.M.C. to secure their spot in the number one contender's match, and they'll face the winner of Friday's match up of The Provincial Alliance vs V-Nation.

Speaking of tag teams, Marcus Gravy and Trent "T The MC" McRae are no longer tag team partners. As talked about in an article on Sunday, Trent was not at all happy with his partner's performance in the ring. After settling things with a singles match this past stream, they've called it quits on the hunt for the Doubles championship.

The highlight of the night was the second pre-show match between Roger Olson and Geoffrey "TG" McCullough. This was a qualifying match to see who will make it into the 16-man single elimination tournament next month, and it was a really even match until Roger turned the whole thing around. Not only reverse a TG DDT, but then he followed it up with stealing TG's finisher. It was an awesome moment the stream hadn't seen yet, and it was a real treat.

However the most shocking point of the stream was at the end when Salty vacated the US title. I covered in another post already so I won't go into much detail. With a number one contender's triple threat coming up next week, Salty will certainly be fighting on Friday to see if he can secure a spot in his new journey for top gold.

In the meantime, it looks like next week's number one contender's match will be changed to a straight up title match for the US championship. Maximilian once again has a shot, and it looks like Friday's qualifying match will be between Sergei Alkaev and Tyler T-Man.

It should be interesting seeing what goes on from this point forward.

BREAKING: Salty Vacates US Title; Going After World Championship

Salty Marcellus vacated the US Championship following tonight's stream.

After completely dominating everyone his way (including world champion Chris Furious in a champion vs champion match), it looks like Salty has lost interest in maintaining his position. He believes that nobody in the division can beat him for his title.
"3 [US title reigns]? It's fuckin' good. It 's real nice. But, honestly? It ain't as good as having a world champ belt! SO, while I'll save you all the trouble of fighting me for the US Belt, I'll be out there gettin' a REAL challenge! Bye, Losers! See ya when you start makin' the kids smile! Toodles!" - Salty Marcellus, in the Twitch stream following the September 12th stream.
Who knows where this will lead the man with the hot streak. Now he has the US title off of his shoulders, it seems that Chris Furious' days are numbered.

Fight Card Offically Announced for September 12th Stream

The stream immediately following the start-of-the-month tournament is usually when feuds really get kick-started. The stream following last month's tournament saw Trent McRae and Marcus Gravy form a tag-team which eventually steamrolled everyone in their way, we saw Salty Marcellus recover from his round one loss into an unstoppable machine, and the Canadian title has been the only title to unsuccessfully be defended (twice!).

Anyways, here are the announced matches for tonight's stream:

World's Bestest Champion of the World Championship Singles Match
Joshua Ferguson VS Chris Furious
-
Doubles Championship Tag-Team Match
Double J VS The Beast Crew
If Double J loses, Jacob is breaking up the team.
-
Hardcore Championship No Disqualification Match
Jelrin The Operator VS Anthony "Milbro" Brown
-
Singles Match
Maximillian Wolf VS Saxxymus
Winner will be entered into a number one contenders match for the National US Championship of America.
-
Singles Match
Trent "T The MC" McRae VS Marcus Gravy
If Gravy loses, Trent is splitting the tag team.
 -
Tag-Team Match
Bulletproof P.M.C. VS The Executioners
Qualifying match. Winner will face the winner of next week's qualifying match for the number one contender's spot in the Doubles division.
-
Singles Match
Sammy Zaslanslamar VS Dominic Pelletier
Winner is placed into the number one contender's match for the International Canadian Championship of the World.

Several Teams Consider Splitting After September 12th Stream

Man, what in the world is going on with the Doubles division right now?

The Doubles division over the past month has been on of the funnest divisions to watch, what with it being filled with soilid tag-teams such as V-Nation, The Executioners, and the champions The Beast Crew. After the events of the 2nd FLPW A.I. Single Elimination Tournament, however, it seems that at least three different teams are re-considering their friendships.

Since starting the FLPW Twitch streams last month, the Doubles titles have been held by The Beast Crew (Tyler T-Man and Trevor Warren). However, T-Man has stated that he's looking to break into a singles division (mostly likely the US division) and make a name for himself. He also admitted that the first tag team reign of The Beast Crew looks like it's going to be their last for the time being.

Faithful viewers were able to see in action the formation of the tag team of Trent "T the MC" McRae and Marcus Gravy after they both got revenge on V-Nation after they were eliminated by its members in last month's tournament. Since then they've formed an unlikely partnership and have trashed every team in their way. Everyone except the Beast Crew. It seems that Trent blames Marcus for losing their title match, and after Marcus' very poor performance in the tournament last weekend, he's ready to end the whole thing.

Double J is in a similar situation. Head of the team Jacob Drummond is heading into a doubles title shot tonight against The Beast Crew, and he too is disappointed at the recent work of teammate John Polak. If Double J fail to get the belts from The Beast Crew, Jacob has openly stated that John is no longer welcome as part of the team and he'll start the search for another partner. Interesting stakes for tonight's doubles title match then.

So it seems no matter what happens tonight that at least one tag team will be calling it quits. In the meantime, the other teams in the division are getting ready to qualify to see who will become the next number one contender.

September 10th Tournament Wrap-Up

Before I talk about Saturday's tournament, I should say something about the creation of this FLPW page.

I've been considering finding some sort of medium to continue the FLPW cannon outside of recording/streaming episodes ever since I launched the now non-existant N64 version of the promotion. I first started out with making a Wikia page, but good lord that's not an easy thing to start from scratch. I'm pretty sure you can find the shattered remains of it somewhere on the internet.

So for the time being, I'm going to be posting news items and editorials here! Hope that this turns out better than the Wikia page did did.

Well, another FLPW A.I. Single Elimination Tournament is done and over with after a long 7 hour stream (if you include the pre-tournament non-cannon 6-man battle royals).

First off, this means that the FLPW has been streaming on my Twitch channel for over a month now. The first stream was the previous August 8th tournament, and things since then have changed since then. Johnny Talladega has had a Canadian title reign start, stop, then start up again, Salty still has not lost a single match on stream since the first tournament (spoilers!), and Chris Furious continues to make as ass out of his title reign by still holding onto the damn thing while losing every single non-title match he's in.

Second off, what the hell was up with at least half of this tournament. Another poor showing by Maximillian Wolf, the previous world champions came up short, and the blatant cheating throughout the night was getting completely out of hand.

Beyond the cheating however, the most egregious thing about the tournament was the referee. There was (at the very least) three different instances of the ref not seeing a rope break. It first happened when Johnny Talladega held the rope during El Koog's pin, a second time when face Adam Roggeveen pinned Marcus Gravy despite the giant's hand on the ropes, but it would not be until the grand final match between Jacob Drummond and Salty Marceluus when it would happen again to seal the tournament win for Salty. JFC.

As usual, if a wrestler is able to eliminate the belt holder from their division in the tourney, they instantly get a title shot at the following stream. Newcomer Joshua Ferguson was able to eliminate the World's Bestest World Champion of the World title holder Chris Furious and will be facing him in the main event of the Monday 12th stream, and Jelrin the Operator will face Anthony "Milbro" Brown for the Hardcore Championship. Cool!

The highlight of the night was the blood feud that erupted between Jacob Drummond and Tyler "Straight Savage" T-Man. Just watch the highlight of the final match. It's 100% worth it. After the stream the two of them decided to upgrade settling their differences in a sigles match, to a doubles match for T-Man and Trevor Warren's titles. It's possibly the match I'm looking most forward to.

Anyways, stay tuned for more news as to what's going down at next Monday's stream!
